LANSING, Mich. — The National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) today announced Lansing United’s 2016 schedule. The club will once again play in the Midwest Region, which will be made up of 13 teams and split into two conferences, the Great Lakes East and West. United will compete in the Western Conference with the Dayton Dynamo, Detroit City FC, Kalamazoo FC, Michigan Stars, AFC Ann Arbor and Grand Rapids FC. Each team will play 12 conference games, consisting of a round robin with the six other teams in the West. At the conclusion of the regular season, the top two teams will advance to the regional playoffs. The Eastern Conference will be comprised of the Indy Eleven NPSL, Rochester River Dogz, AFC Cleveland, Erie Commodores, FC Buffalo and FC Indiana.

“The NPSL season is a sprint with important matches every weekend,” said Lansing United head coach/GM Nate Miller. “It’s crucial that we prepare extremely well the first few weeks to set us up for crucial matches in June and July.”

Lansing United will open up the 2016 season with a non-league game at the East Lansing Soccer Complex against the Ann Arbor Football Club on May 7. The Hoops will spend the first weekend of NPSL play on the road at Dayton and Kalamazoo before returning home on Sunday, May 22 to play host to the Michigan Stars. United will once again host Detroit City FC at Michigan State University’s DeMartin Soccer Complex at noon on Sunday, July 10.

“I would like to thank Michigan State coaches Damon Rensing and Tom Saxton and the athletic department for once again allowing us to use their beautiful stadium,” said Lansing United President/CEO Jeremy Sampson. “We are looking forward to another great crowd at MSU.”

On Sunday, June 19 Lansing United will host the Columbus Crew College Program at the East Lansing Soccer Complex, where the club will honor hometown hero Steve Clark. A graduate of Mason High School and Oakland University, Clark led the Columbus Crew to the MLS Cup title game in 2015. Last season Clark made 34 appearances for the Crew, playing every minute of every game for the second straight campaign. He tallied 15 wins including six clean sheets. United will also honor the 2015 Division 2 state champion Mason Bulldogs at halftime.

Currently there are eight home games schedule for 2016, but the team is still actively looking to add another game or two. Season tickets are on sale for $100 and can be purchased here.

The NPSL is a national league that operates in the 4th Division of the U.S. Soccer pyramid. NPSL teams are eligible to participate in the U.S. Open Cup through their affiliation with the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).
