Lansing, MI—Lansing United is excited to join Midwest United FC, Livonia City FC, and hosts Detroit City FC at Keyworth Stadium in the Inaugural UWS Stadium Showcase in Hamtramck on July 24 and July 26.

“We are excited that our team will be able to take the field this summer and we would like to thank Detroit City Football Club for offering to host this unique event,” Lansing United President/CEO Jeremy Sampson said. “While not being able to have a full UWS season was disappointing the health and safety of our players, staff, coaches and supporters was at the forefront of all of our decisions.”

On Friday July24th, the Showcase will feature a semifinal doubleheader with the winners playing on Sunday in the Championship game while the losers on Friday will meet in a third-place game.  The matchups and game times will be released later.  The potential for fans to attend matches will be based on permission from state and local health authorities and DCFC’s confidence level of being able to ensure the safety and wellbeing of fans, players, and staff.  All matches will be livestreamed.

“I’m thankful that we have the opportunity to compete this summer,” Lansing United Head Coach Jason Crist said. “We are looking forward to reuniting with some familiar faces and adding some new players to the mix for what should be a great weekend of soccer.”

“We’re excited to see soccer played at Keyworth Stadium this season,” said UWS League Commissioner Joseph Ferrara Jr. “Detroit City FC is well-known in the community for its professionalism, and we are delighted to have soccer finally back in the area.”

All participating teams and the UWS continue to adhere with State restrictions and CDC recommendations. In developing a Return to Play protocol, numerous processes and alternative plans are in continual consideration with input from health officials and State and local officials.
