Lansing, MI—Today the United Women’s Soccer (UWS) league announced the 2021 competitive schedule for the Midwest Conference.  Lansing United will open its third season with two road games, the season begins on Saturday May 8th at Midwest United before traveling to the Motor City to face Corktown AFC on May 16th.  The Hoops will open the home portion of the schedule on May 23rd when Detroit City FC comes to the Capital City.

With 10 teams competing in the Midwest Conference this season it will be split into two divisions, the North and the South.  The Michigan teams, Lansing United, Midwest United, Detroit City FC, Corktown AFC and the Muskegon Risers will play in the North Division.  The Chicago Kics, Chicago Mustangs, Indiana Union, Ladies Steel City F.C. and MSC Peoria will compete in the South Division.

The UWS regular season schedule consists of 10 matches for each team.  At the end of the regular season the top two teams in each division will qualify for the playoffs.  The 4 teams will be seeded 1-4 based on regular season points with the #1 seed hosting the #4 seed and the #2 seed hosting the #3 seed in the Conference semifinals.  The two winners will then play for the right to represent the Midwest Conference in the UWS National Semifinals.  If there are an unequal number of games played at the conclusion of the regular season, points per game will be used to determine the four teams who qualify for the Midwest Conference playoffs.

“We are looking forward to getting back onto the field again and competing,” said Jason Crist Lansing United Head Coach.  “I’m excited with the group of players that we have coming in this summer.”

The 2021 Lansing United Schedule includes a match on June 6th that will be played at Lansing Eastern as a part of a doubleheader with Lansing Common.  Lansing Common FC kicks off its inaugural season this year as a member of the Midwest Premier League.

“We are excited to partner with Lansing Common on what will be a great day of soccer at Lansing Eastern, we appreciate the club hosting this doubleheader,” Lansing United President/CEO Jeremy Sampson said.  “We hope that the soccer fans in Lansing will enjoy watching both of these high-level teams compete on the same day.”

“We’re excited to have the opportunity to host Lansing United and put on an event that will showcase some of the best men’s and women’s soccer Lansing has to offer,” said Lansing Common president Eric Walcott. “Many of us involved with Lansing Common are long-time Lansing United supporters so it’s great to be able to partner with them on this event.”
